About Sherman Oaks
Sherman Oaks Dual Immersion School serves more than 500 students, from TK to 8th grade, and is home to our Spanish-English dual language immersion program. Beginning in TK and Kindergarten, students spend the majority of the day learning and speaking in Spanish. The percentage of English instruction increases each year, with students in 4th grade learning 50% of the day in English and 50% in Spanish.
In the 2023-2024 school year, Sherman Oaks completed its third year as a TK-8th grade school and promoted our third 8th grade class. Before students are promoted from Sherman Oaks, they may earn a Pathway to Biliteracy Award near the end of their eighth grade year that measures and demonstrates their preparedness to earn the Seal of Biliteracy when they complete high school.
Our school has a rich history of academic and cultural excellence that is the result of the hard work and dedication of our staff, and of the partnership with the parents who provide a diversity of experiences for our students. Our school mission is to create a bilingual school community in which all students learn at high levels.
