Walking is a fun and healthy way to spend time with your child.

In Campbell Union School District, we encourage parents and students to walk or bike to school every Wednesday. For those who live too far, try parking farther away from the school and walking the last block or two.

Since children learn by doing, YOU are your child’s most important role model for learning to walk safely. As you walk, please:

  • Obey all traffic signs and signals.
  • Look LEFT-RIGHT-LEFT for moving cars, and cross when clear.
  • Time yourself. Practice this weekend to find out how much time to allow.
  • Check the weather and dress appropriately (boots, rain coat, umbrella, etc.).

As you walk, you can talk with your child about what you’re doing and explain why.

A Message from the Superintendent

Parents often ask me: “When will I find out the results of my child’s tests?”

Each year our teachers administer several assessments to determine student growth and inform their classroom teaching practice. These assessments—tests, quizzes, class projects, and the like—provide multiple ways to measure student progress towards learning the important concepts they need for success in school and in the community at-large.

Our assessment cycle includes dates we report results throughout the year. Also, our teachers are available to discuss student progress with the parents.

Assessment Reporting Schedule

iReady Testing Results

  • October at Parent-Teacher Conferences
  • Mid-November via student delivery
  • Early March via student delivery

Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) Distribution Cycle

  • Tentatively August/September 2016 via U.S. mail

Trimester Report Cards

Middle School (sent via U.S. mail): Nov. 19, March 10, June 9

Elementary School (sent home with student): Nov. 20, March 18, June 8

Campbell Union School District employees value partnering with you to prepare our students for college and career success. Please continue to communicate with your child’s teacher(s) to stay informed and to ensure that we are all doing our best to provide each student with an optimal educational experience.

Updated Tue, Oct 20th

Starting January 2016, new incoming students or those students transitioning from elementary to middle school will no longer be able to provide a personal belief statement or religious exemption for immunizations.

Under the 2015 Senate Bill 277, there is provision for “grandfathering” students who currently have a statement of belief or religious exemption until they reach their next vaccination checkpoint – kindergarten or 7th grade.  A licensed physician can exempt students from immunizations.

For more information about immunization requirements, contact the California Department of Public Health (916) 558-1784 or ask your health care provider.

We know as parents it can be tempting to extend vacation days and plan for vacations during the regularly scheduled school days. We ask that you refrain from doing so as this can greatly impact your child’s education. We cannot stress enough the importance of attending school daily so your child may receive the necessary instruction. We understand that unforeseen issues do arise, such as illnesses, so please do not forget to contact the office if your child will be absent at: 408-795-1140

Our parking lot is small and we have limited spaces, which are mostly reserved, for our staff. Please allow yourself plenty of time to find parking and walk. You may park in the Sherman Oaks parking lot—legal space permitting, along the street, or in the neighboring off-street parking where allowed. Please be thoughtful of our neighbors and do not park on grass, or block driveways, and be courteous to pedestrian and automobile traffic. Our children’s safety is one of our top priorities and your help is much appreciated.

You may drop-off or pick-up your child using the “drop off/pick up” lane on the right side of the parking lot. When using this lane, please make sure your child enters and exits to the right next to the curb, not into the parking lot. This will keep your child safe. If your child is not out front when you arrive for pick-up, please use the inner (passing) lane to circle the parking lot until you see your child. Then you may enter the “loading” lane to pick them up at the curb. Please do NOT block the drop off lane, park in red zones, or unauthorized areas, or leave your car unattended. Thank you for your attention and for keeping your student safe.
